　　TheGettysburgAddressisafamousspeechgivenbyAbrahamLincolnduringtheAmericanCivilWar.ItwasdeliveredonNovember19,1863,atthededicationoftheSoldiers'NationalCemeteryinGettysburg,Pennsylvania.Thespeechisonly272wordslongbutisconsideredoneofthemostpowerfulspeechesinAmericanhistory.

　　Inthespeech,LincolntalksaboutthesacrificesmadebythesoldierswhodiedinthebattleatGettysburg.Healsodiscussestheideaofa"newbirthoffreedom"forAmerica,whereallpeopleareequalandhavetherighttolibertyandjustice.Thespeechendswiththefamouslines,"thatthisnation,underGod,shallhaveanewbirthoffreedom—andthatgovernmentofthepeople,bythepeople,forthepeople,shallnotperishfromtheearth."
